Bilingual Gift Ideas for Kids

October is a big month for bilingual families and classrooms. It’s Celebrating the Bilingual Child Month and Bilingual Week: two back-to-back reminders that speaking, reading, and living in more than one language is something worth celebrating.

Every year I get asked the same question by teachers, parents, and librarians: what should I actually give the bilingual kids in my life this month?

So I put together my go-to list of bilingual gift ideas for kids, starting with the one I made myself and rounding it out with a few other favorites that live in our house and in bilingual classrooms everywhere.

Mini Book Packs for Big Little Readers I created these because I wanted something small enough to fit in a backpack but big enough to hold real meaning: bite-sized, bilingual, beautifully made little editions of ¡Mis Superpoderes Bilingües! / My Bilingual Superpowers! and Coco, la cotorra puertorriqueña that kids can actually hold in their hands, carry with them, and call their own.  Each Mini Book Pack comes in sets of 10: perfect for a classroom, a grade-level team, or a Bilingual Week celebration. No assembly, no last-minute scrambling.

Spanish Word Game  A Spanish-language word game with a digital display, built-in timer, and a 24-letter board designed for fast-paced rounds. It comes with 35 double-sided cards covering 140 categories, plus two ways to play: a relaxed mode for quick answers or a “lightning” mode for a faster challenge. Beyond the fun factor, it’s built to build vocabulary, quick thinking, and spelling.

Bilingual Talking Flash Cards A pocket-sized electronic flashcard set for toddlers and early learners — insert a card and it reads the word aloud in Spanish, English, or both. A nice hands-on option for kids who aren’t reading independently yet.

Bilingo Bingo A bilingual twist on classic Bingo, with a QR code on every card for pronunciation help if you get stuck. It also includes storytelling variants for younger and older kids, so the whole family can play together no matter the age gap. With 12 game boards included, it’s sized well for a classroom set, too.

Scrabble en Español For your readers and writers ages 7+. A great way to reinforce spelling and vocabulary in Spanish while keeping game night competitive.

Lil’ Loteria (Lil’ Libros) A bilingual twist on the classic Mexican bingo game, made specifically with little ones in mind. Kids build matching and memory skills while calling out vocabulary in Spanish and English — and there’s nothing like a room full of kids shouting “¡LOTERÍA!” together. Includes 6 game boards and 36 playing cards. Ages 3+.

Feppy Bilingual Memory Match A simple matching game that pairs pictures with Spanish and English words. Sturdy, colorful cards that grow with your child — start with a few pairs and add more as they master it. Ages 3+.

Bilingual Floor Puzzles (Alphabet) Big, durable, wipe-clean puzzles that introduce foundational vocabulary in Spanish and English. A favorite for classroom centers and younger siblings tagging along.

A month worth celebrating

However, you choose to celebrate: with a book, a board game, or an afternoon of Lotería, Bilingual Child Month is a chance to tell the bilingual kids in your life that being bilingual is their superpower!
