The Itsy Bitsy Spider is a classic and singing it with my son is one of my favorite activities for him to learn Spanish is through music and play. I invited his friends from the Spanish playgroup, aged 3 to 5 years old, to visit, and I wanted to ensure we had something enjoyable planned. It was also important to me to maintain Spanish immersion, especially as they often default to speaking English in our community.

Spanish Storytime & Craft
To start off the play date, we jumped into the book The Very Busy Spider “La Araña Muy Ocupada” (Spanish Edition) in board book format. Through a quick search on Pinterest, I discovered a wonderfully simple spider finger puppet craft. Using craft foam, we crafted adorable spiders “arañas” for them to accompany our sing-along to Hap Palmer’s “La Pequeña Araña/The Itsy Bitsy Spider” song.
Once everyone had finished crafting their spiders, we all stood up together to sing the song.
